idler wheel treatment

hi all, i have a dual model 1019 which uses the direct drive idler wheel.i have cleaned it and it's fairly pliable but the running speed is still slow.some sites on the web recommend different treaments for the wheel,one is mobile1 synthetic oil!. this makes no sense to me,it seems to me it should be tacky,there is a site that sells renotac which is what dual recomends,but i don't want to pay that much,is there anything i could buy locally?.is there another treatment that works as well as this renotac? the rest of the turntable is working great,Even the headshell!.any help would be appreciated,thanks.
