You would have to spend a considerable amount to get this kind of build quality on a modern deck.My first deck was/is a Kenwood KD-990 that I have tweaked a fair bit. It still runs flawlessly after all these years, (it's an early 80's model) and sounds great! A quick search of the net shows that many of the decks are still being used in high quality systems, mostly in Japan, some highly modified.
I also run a Scout/JMW-9 and am very happy with it, but I think that the Kenwood is the better built, better looking table, and nostalgia is also a factor. If I had to live with just one, I would pick the Kenwood, but I sure glad I don't have to make that decision!
