I have found thick aluminum headshells to sound more full in the midrange but slightly reduce the dynamics of my Denon.I have found thick magnesium headshells to sound very neutral and not effect the dynamics of my Denon.
I find stamped aluminum like SME and aftermarket headshells to sound either spongy (SME) or ringy (cheap replacements).
I have a technics headshell with an add on weight and that critter sounds strange from top to bottom, but the Technics crowd seem to love them.
I sure would love to hear my DL 103R on a 3012. These arms are just too pricey for me at this time. Anyone have a spare to loan me?
