A lot of tube gear has a mute function that delays the output signal for between 15 and 30 seconds to avoid amplifying tube warmup noise.Tubes make all sorts of interesting noises as they warm up and I wouldn't worry about it, especially in a high gain circuit like a phono amp. It may eventually last 20 to 30 seconds.
On the other hand, if the unit eventually develops intermittent or continuous hissing or spitting you may have a bad tube or a cold solder joint on a tube socket.
For now just think of it as tube middle age... ;-)
