JMW-9 tonearm cartridge recommendations inside

I have had the JMW-9 tonearm for well over twelve months now, fitted with numerous cartridges and highly recommend before you consider purchasing any other cartridge, please read VPI's “biblical” comments included in the below forum post link.

My suggestions in order of preference, for the best matching cartridges to suit specifically the JMW-9 tonearm, against your stated budget of around $600, are as follows:

1. Sumiko Blackbird 2.5 mV HOMC cartridge
2. Dynavector DV 20-XL 0.3 mV LOMC cartridge
3. Dynavector VPI Special DV 20-XM 1.0 mV MOMC cartridge
2. Dynavector DV 20-XH 2.8 mV HOMC cartridge
3. Clearaudio Aurum Beta S MkII S/S 3.6 mV MM cartridge

Remember, the VPI 3 gram s/s additional headshell mass is still needed for the JMW-9 tonearm fitted with the majority of cartridges stated above, in order to achieve the best possible resonant frequency results.
