In addition, even when heard in one's own system, one still cannot just dismiss it if it didn't work out, since matching to taste is a critical part too.
For example, we have heard numerous installations of Scheu turntables, and of course, each system they are in sounds different. Same goes if these were Linn LP12s, etc. Otherwise, it's like saying all blondes are hot :) But they've got different parts, eyes, racks, booties, etc. We've heard systems with exactly the same electronics and speakers, and they still sound different. It's more complex than just plugging in and playing.
