Re: warm musical Spacedeck vs clinical Scheu

I agree on the Scheu. It offers very little in the way of musical flow and rhythmic drive, and the Teres 'tables I've heard were even more sterile and mechanical sounding, though they give you a huge facefull of dry, analytical detail, which is fine if you like the sort of presentation that dissects the music rather than playing it cohesively.

IME, this lack of liveliness and flesh-n'-blood is directly proportionate to the amount of mass-loading and acrylic used in the 'table's construction. Judicious amounts of acrylic can sound fine if it's used in a carefully-engineered design, but more often than not the "designer" just saws off bigger, heavier chunks of the stuff as you move "up" their TT line-up.

I'd go with a Spacedeck, but pass on the Spacearm, and definitely avoid the heavy kit. Morch arms are a wonderful sounding match with the Spacedeck, and the UP-4 costs less than the stock arm, if I recall. They're also much more versatile.

Replace the stock plinth with a Neuance shelf and you'll have a setup that plays music with its drive and flow intact, in addition to the usual audiophile sound effects.
