....you can use a record for greater stability. The instruction sheet pictures the scale being used this way - so I assumed this would provide the best results.
If I don't use the record, the scale tips down slightly toward the spindle (since my platter is slightly indented at the centre) and this effects the reading slightly.Remember, regardless of what final conclusion I draw about the Shure, final tracking weight is best fine tuned by ear.
I won't have a chance to play around any more tonight, but on the basis of my last test - and assuming the digital scale is accurate - the Shure displays remarkable accuracy.
