Tested here and proven gentle. Maybe not the last word in effectiveness. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea (it's gagety). But no harm done.
I read the same thing and thought it improbable. It turned out to be baloney. The stylus doesn't even appear to move on it and it just rests on top. I can't imagine Ortofon selling something that would damage their stylus either. Anyway, it's no great find, just a neat bit of vinyl history and an affordable cleaning tool that appears to work if anyone runs across one. I'd trust my stylus to it.
