The arm cannot leave the receiver bronze bearing. The weight of your arm which is probably 200 grams or more mass loads the coupler adjustment ring to the bronze bushing seat.The wiring from the arm to the preamp also provides retension aspects, since the weight of these connections also adds to the mass loading of the arm to the bronze bushing seat.
While the arm is not solidly bolted to the bronze seat, the overall mass loads the arm very nicely.
The picture I am posting is my VTAF configured to work with the Kenwood KD 550 arm. This is not representative of how the assembly will look with a Rega arm.
