Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

I had given up on thrifts..

....because they're all totally picked over in NYC, and anyway Academy has better stuff for fifty cents than they have for a dollar.

But I got a tip, so I went to one. Twenty bins of LPs they had, about 75% classical. I viewed 2000 records and bought 6:

Mussorsky, Pictures, Ansermet/OSR London (mid-70s reissue)
Chopin, Nocturnes, Moravec, Connoisseur (later issue)
Rimsky-Korsakoff, Scheherezade, Kondrashin/Concergebouw (again, late)
Knappertbusch Conducts Wagner, MCA (very late)
Britten, Winter Words, UK EMI HQS (an original at last, a stickered-for-export Odeon)
Jethro Tull, Thick as a Brick (original fold-out newspaper cover, minty)

I've had five or six of the Kna, and none of them played very well. It's a great performance that gets big $$$ on eBay for the original, which I've never even seen a copy of.

They also had a gatefold Aqualung, the jacket was mint but the record was bad, so I didn't take it.

The bill was $6.50 with tax.
