I purchased an SME 3009 Series II Improved for 375.00 and a Series III for about 350.00.Both are really wonderful arms for high compliance cartridges like my Grado.
The Series I and Series II non improved arms are characterized by having a detachable headshell. This detachment fitting makes these arms heavier, and puts them in the medium mass tonearm category. This is a good thing for many cartridges on the marketplace.
Do a search on SME and you will find a wealth of information on these outstanding arms.
