I have just bought an Ariston RD11 ...not the 'S' version..with an SME 3009 Series 2 arm also fitted with an Empire 1000.
They say that the Ariston RD11 was the forerunner of the Linn, now I have recently owned 2 linn LP12's and this turntable is every bit as good as the older Linn. The arm is a true delight when fitted with an appropriate cartridge Shure V15/75ED..Ortofon VMS20..Goldring 1042. Don't worry too much about spares as you can retro fit an awful lot of second hand Linn stuff..plinths..lids..armboards..springs..all fit the RD11..I paid pretty much what you paid and am well pleased!
