I have one, recently removed it from my system due to switch problems (dirty contacts). Mine is just the 1000. Yours has better switches, and board mounting inside.
I never noticed any sonic degrading unless you adjust too much autocorrelation into it. I ran mine about 10-11 o'clock, and adjusted the peak unlimiter to just light the led on loud passages. Did what it was supposed to do.
Just try it, you might like it. The adjustable low filter really worked well.
