Koetsu rebuilding

My Koetsu Rosewood has expired recently (sniff). I am considering having it rebuilt vs. buying another outright. Has anybody had any experience with rebuilds?
I have a trustworthy dealer that said he will send it in for me.
Do the Koetsus come back as good as new or are they doomed never to be the same?
