I used to say SRV's Tin Pan Alley on Couldn't Stand the Weather, But

My Goldring Elite wouldn't pass that test. The Eroica sounded better on that particular piece. However the Elite has a deeper bass and better overall quality on most everything else and surface noise is almost non existant. I routinely play albums with the Elite that had SN with the Eroica and were intolerable.
This has caused me to rethink the idea of reference recordings to compare equipment.
