the shure VxMR is a very sophisticated cartridge. but very neutral. . in a top quality quality, system it can rival the best. however, in a so-so system it has a good chance of sounding boring & lifeless.
not sure how close the vmr is to VxMR. but if they are close, you might have the same problem. but at $60, just buy it and make your own evaluation. you cant go wrong at that price. by the way, i dont think the rega arm is the best choice for either the shure or grado. you may want to consider some other cartridge if you plan to keep the rega. ask 100 audiophiles an opionion and will you get 1 definitive answer?
