Can't help with the spilting but I agree with the JD9 assessment.
When I auditioned the Rega3 with the Rega phono stage I almost didn't buy. When we put the JD9 in place of the Rega it made a world of difference.I've been happy with both now for a couple months.
I did put in Sovtec 12AX7LPS's that had been in my amp (with new 12AX7LPS's going in the amp) before listening much to the original tubes.Happy Listening....Jerry
