Very easy to replace. Just peel off the old felt. I use acetone to remove the residual adhesive on the bare plastic slot.The new felt pad has an adhesive backing, so, you just press it into place. Before pressing it down hard, you can push the pad around a bit to make sure it is well centered over the slot.
I've been using the same machine for over 20 years and have replaced the pads many, many times.
