Absolutely- The place I buy as much of my music as possible isn't a bedrock low ball pricing deal, but on one occaison a number of years
ago after discovering John Coltrane I went to B'Side (Madison WI)
and picked out about 8 or 9 Coltrane CD's, the clerk asked me if I were a serious Coltrane listener, I explained I'd recently come to appreciate him on a ride through the Rockies through my Discman and my Cousins CD donation, the clerk went through the pile, this is one with downright hideous sonics, but it's a rare performance, I think you would be dissapointed, these 2 are his late period stuff, quite discordant, etc. I walked out with 4 CD's, I seriously appreciate
that level of professionalism and genuine customer support, so paying an extra $2 is IMHO a negligable price to pay.I have a High end audio shop that is the equivalent of B side "Specialized Sound" the implicit trust and support over the years obviate the importance of extra $30 a cartridge costs over an Internet Mail order joint.
Even if I were a real prick and hadn't gained a serious degree of appreciation and affection for these folks, the real world value of places like these and the utility they represent would be sorely missed if more people went the internet best price route and they went under, as Music Direct, Acoustic Sounds etc. are not going to get a recalcitrant tonearm functioning on the spot on a Saturday afternoon and then refuse to charge you.
