The RB300 has a dial type adjustment for setting the vtf(the 250 just uses the counterweight to do this), maybe that is what you are thinking of.
Though you can't shim the arm base on the GR1 AFAIK, you could still shim the cartridge at the headshell, if you want to raise the front of the arm.
