in the Belfast airport. It is a pretty small airport and we were both just standing there waiting for the gate to open. We were almost the only ones there and she simply struck up a conversation with "so you going to Amsterdam too?" I answered than actually no I was on my way back to Germany via Frankfurt from Amsterdam. Your English is very good for a German if I may say so. Well, it ought to be I have spoken it my whole life. She laughed and sort of said she was sorry for being presumptuous (I'm not German). I had a suspicion and just blurted out "excuse me but aren't you Shirley Bassey?"Well, she was, gave me autographed pic and a peck on the cheek. She is a good 20 years older. A very down-to-earth sincere person.
She flew first class I was in the back with the slobs.
