The diode mod kept the motor voltage to 68V IIRC. It allowed the LP-12 motor to run more smoothly. It was available as an add on kit for earlier Valhalla boards, where you soldered the dioes and resister in series and simply put it accross the screw terminals to the motor. The boards are interchangeable, but the diodes are prefereable.
