How do I know if my tonearm bearings are adjusted properly?

164.86.99.3

I got a Pro-Ject Debut III a few months ago, and while I was setting it up I found that the tonearm "stuck" in place if I lifted it up and let it go. I asked about it here and I was advised to order a tonearm bearing adjustment tool, as the bearings were too tight. I get my tool a few weeks later and loosen the bearings so that the arm doesn't stick anymore. It's been about two months since then and no problems, but I can't help but wonder if I adjusted the bearings properly. I think I may have loosened one bearing more than the other. Will that affect the sound or possible damage my records in any way? Or is it okay as long as the tonearm moves freely in the Y axis and doesnt jam or stick? Im just getting into vinyl and I am a bit paranoid and overprotective of my TT and my records, so sorry if this question is a bit silly...
