I only have about 30 hours on the Mirages. Mirage suggests a minimum 50 hours breakin before making judgements. That said, the obvious differences are in bass response and efficiency. The OM-9s go at least a half octave lower than my MMGs did. I'd estimate 35-38Hz for the OM-9s to 50-55Hz for the Maggies. The Mirages are about 90dB/1W where the Maggies are 83dB/1W.
The Mirages throw a wider, deeper soundstage, although the Maggies float a more stable image. With the OM-9s, some instruments, particularly percussion, sometimes seem to be coming from behind the back wall. The image also seems to extend beyond the speakers positions horizontally.
The Mirages' Imaging and soundstaging improved noticably when I switched from non bi-wired Audioquest Type 4 to a bi-wire set of AQ Bedrock.
Tonally, both are good. I'd give the Maggies a slight edge in HF detail and air, but not by much. The OM-9s have the edge in dynamics.
So, overall, I'm keeping the Mirages. I might look at Maggie 1.6s down the road, however.
