Home Vinyl Asylum

Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

BIG THANK YOU FOR POSTING!

This is a big BIG thank you to the posters over the last 4 years who have shared information and opinions on any make of pre-amp; Connoisseur, MusicHall, Pro-Ject, Rega turntables; Oyster, Grado, Shure, Ortofon cartridges; and anything that has to do with cleaning vinyl LPs.

I won't list names, just be assured that if you posted anything about these items, especially regarding entry level audiophile, I have probably read it.

About a month ago I picked up a Connoisseur DB2/A with a Shure V15 Type IV. For various reasons, some of which came from searching the Asylum, I chose to put the Connie and Shure on Ebay and move on to a current entry level setup. What I learned over a weeks worth of Vinyl Asylum searches was invaluable in making a final choice for components (one that I could financially, emotionally and acoustically live with).

Thank you. There's a lot of us out here that do not post, and many many who do not take the time to say thank you to the posters when we take advantage of what you've shared.

I guess the punch line is to tell you I decided on a Pro-ject Debut III with a Shure M97 cartridge and a Pro-Ject PhonoBox. As to cleaning records, I am still handwashing and convinced that outside the DiscDoctor and Spin Clean every one has their favorite home brew magic cleaning solution formula.
