Re: vinyl "junk store" illusion


Been there too. If the owner wants to clean the record, play grade it and present it on eBay or at a show for top price book value so be it - I can accept that.

But to walk into a junk store (many "antique" stores are exactly that) and have the seller try to get book value for something they obviously know nothing about smells real bad to me.

No one really pays book value on most records. Book value is to get some vague idea of the value of the record (like how many digits should be in the price). Price trend setting is really IMO done on eBay and at record shows.
