When I first heard CD players in the early 1980's I was appalled

I could not stand them. Just awful. Records sounded so much better on my Linn Sondek-LVX-Grado MR. Nothing that sophisticated compared to what we see today, but it did not take much to thrash a 1982 CD player. My Thorens would have done it.

I think that those who were impressed by CDs never owned a decent record player or looked after their records. They had a different agenda. In the early '90s I finally relented and bought a CD player - they had improved a lot. Now, 10 years later, I like SACD - finally, digital I can live with.

Regards,
Geoff
