18"x16"x2"Butcher Block cutting board@Bed, Bath&...

Beyond. $59.95. Got to be one of THE great audio accessories out there, though it was not intended for that. My Teres is fussy about what it sits on. When I was in a ground floor condo, with a concrete slab floor, it seemed pretty happy with the 125lb granite machinist's rest I had it sitting on. Come to a 2nd floor condo, with its sprung floor, that is NO longer an option....the increased weight up top amplified footfalls. Yuck. Had to have something sonically neutral/dead, reasonably massive, but not TOO heavy.
Cutting to the chase, I tried this maple butcher block cutting board. I am VERY pleased! It seems 'deader' (in a good way) and more neutral than the granite. Rap on it, you're hard pressed to hear anything at all with the table playing. It's got some mass,(which the Teres demands), but not so much as to amplify footfalls...it's very stable. So, especially if you have a suspensionless table, and don't have the bucks for a Black Diamond racing platform (me either!) or one of Mapleshade's $350.00 hand hewn solid maple wonders, this one will do you proud. And yep, I've got it flat side down, round feet up. What works best will depend on your rack. It is definitely WAY better than the stock shelf that came with my Target rack.
