I am not familiar with the particular set that is the subject of your posting, but in 1970 DGG issued a massive multi-set edition of all of Beethoven's music in honor of the centenary of his birth. Your set could be part of that. I had some of those at one time, and they had a special white-ish glossy paper cover with gold trim over a reddish box. Quality of performance and vinyl was excellent. At that time I don't believe MHS had any access to that material, using mostly material from ERATO.
