back in the 70's trying to decide between the kenwood and technics, I chose the kenwood - becuse they make such great can openers. much better than panasonic(technics). I was told the tables were the same motor. i chose the kenwood becuse of a few features. the base was a plastic resin concrete verses the plastic plywood of the technics. the kenwood also looked much better. I don't hear much about the kenwood table nowdays . I do remember the top of line stanton cartridge i used would pick up noise as it passed over the motor , towards the inside of the record. other cartridges didn't do this
