Hi DK,Since you've got some experience already w/ vinyl playback & tube amplification, I'd reccommend,
in addition to some basic record-cleaning & stylus-cleaning supplies, the following :***Rega Planar P3 table, Rega Rb-300 tonearm. About $700.
At this price-level, world class gear and an arm that moves up to the next level --- and turntable. Both / either allow for very good resale in future upgrading adventures.
***Entry-level cartridge.
Get the Grado Prestige Whatever for about $85. Painstakingly installed, this will keep you quite happy for your first year back to vinyl.
I've mentioned before that entry-level cartridges are like first & second girlfriends --- you will be deleriously happy because you don't yet have a lot to compare to; they won't be the last, and there are a long line of sophisticated, enchanting candidates waiting to be notified of your interest.***Wright Sound Vacuum Tube Phonostage. About $800.
Okay, that blows the 1k line. So do this --- for free, or for fifty bucks, get a Pioneer-or-something receiver that you can use as a starter... they all had reasonable phonostages and you, because of your foresight, are waiting till you can put your Analog signal thru tubes, using a reliable, modern tubed Phonostage. Like the Wright. Check reviews, archives, etc., and see.
The supercool & extradimensional Vinyl / Analog playback experience is quadrupled via the use of a good tubed phonostage. Bank on it.
