Re: OK, well..

Hello Agattu,

Thank you for the four e-mails. Perhaps I was somewhat harsh. My complaint against the mmf-7/ps-1 combo was that it is too dry. I heard some neat effects but overall, I thought that it was somewhat artificial in that I was missing a level of cohesiveness that I had expected. The use of a ps-1 did not seem to cater to the mmf-7 either. PS-1 is probably better suited with use to a VPI.

My system leans towards the dry side with my speakers. Other systems where I know people that have been satisfied with the mmf-7 tend to be plusher otherwise. Also, I think that you don't miss the cohesiveness until you hear something subjectively more cohesive.

The Music Hall MMF-7 looks great, but for that price I would consider the Pro-Ject Perspective instead. I believe Stereophile gave it a great view; the Hifi+ review gets it exactly right. Either way, I don't feel good enough about the MMF-7 to warrant a recommendation over other tables.

I've set up my share of tables with matching problems. From the table to the cartridge to the phono preamp. It can be very easy to bring things out of balance, at all price levels. So I like to suggest the purchase of an all Rega (table, cart, phono pre) for budge-teers. Put it this way, it's all designed to work together for the 'right' sound, so you might as well consider bringing home the package.

Also, I should point out that with all the talk of music hall tables with issues; that I could have been listening to a faulty one.

Cheers,
-phil-
