I have a lot of coloured vinyl collected over the last few decades including marbled, metallic and fluorescent variants.
These days, coloured vinyl (particularly the clear variants) sounds just as clean and quiet as black so it doesn't really matter. However, the metallic and fluorescent variants should be avoided even today (and this is from the vinyl pressing plants recommendations as well as my experience), but then sometimes you don't get a choice if you want a particular record!
I'm not a fan of clear vinyl from a usability perspective - it is harder to see the rills between tracks for cueing! Also, the clear colour makes it hard to see surface blemishes - an issue mainly if you are buying second hand.
