Best place to start looking would be the Steve Hoffman forum and if you don't find it easily you could ask when the well known studios switched to solid state and similarly for the mastering facilities. If you like classical, my understanding is that wide-band Deccas (where the 'full frequency stereo sound' silver logo stretches fully across the label with no writing outside it) and the DG 'tulip' labels where mastered with tube equipment.
