Condolences... your pic reminded me of our Fergus who died about 13 years ago.
Broke my heart, losing that dear friend, but here I'm sitting with Andy (who turned
13 today) and he fills my heart (as does his brother who's in the kitchen), with love.
Most of the time, them being cats.
So, the heart has no limitations, it can retain the love of many at once.
The pain of the loss eases eventually and you realize there's another
beastie needs a good home and can also share the love, when you're ready.
Hope that empty place gets filled in due time.
