My new turntable

This is the new Denon DP3000NE I posted about recently. After using Regas for the past 20 years, I thought it was time for a change. I wanted to explore the opposite philosophy of using heavy tables to dissipate vibration and resonance. And this one is heavy! 42 pounds. Since this was the first time I set up a cartridge on a non-Rega table, it took me a while but it wasn't as hard as I thought. Upon Ghost's recommendation, I used an AT 540ML. What I like about this table is it looks more like a typical vintage table than a Rega. It's quite handsome with its ebony veneer. Superficial-yes! I love the instant stop-start. With the Rega, I just lifted the disc off while the platter was turning which is another way of doing it. Everything works as advertised and in the positive reviews I've read, the on-off and speed buttons, the tonearm adjustments which certainly seem more accurate than the Rega. Everything has a nice feel to it. And considering it's $2500 and only about $500 more than my P6, I think it's a bargain. Designed by Denon, made in China. I think it would be much more expensive if made in Japan.

As to the sound, it's wonderful. The Rega was great as well but it's difficult to compare. First, I haven't listened to it enough. Second, I changed my amp to solid state (Hegel 190), changed my internal phono stage from Rogue Cronus 2 to an external Rega MM phono. Also I'm using a new cartridge, the AT 540 ML. As to comparisons between the two tables, I don't feel comfortable making one and have little patience with people who use hyperbolic phrases like "this table blows the other away." Anyway, very happy with the sound and the purchase in general.
