The pivot-to-spindle distance should be the same (300mm), but you can check with a good ruler.
It also should be a drop-on exchange, UNLESS the 12.5 has the bearing cup for using silicone oil. If so, then you need a new-style spike assembly which you can get from VPI. The swap is easy.
Sound-wise the 3D arms are smoother, but some may see this as a loss of PRAT. I found that the metal arms were a better match for the acrylic platters, while the 3D arms mate better with the metal platters, but as always YMMV.
