For a non exotic solution you could try a large butcher's block, the problem will be to couple the platform to the stand.
IIRC the top of the vertical hollow pillars are capped with recessed metal caps with a hole in the middle (where you poured the sand in). An inexpensive experiment might be to use the hole to centre squash or tennis balls and sit the butcher's block on top (something like Ginko does). You can tune the resonant frequency by changing the balls should you be so inclined. The VPI isolation platform I use has cones on the bottom that didn't align with the caps and holes hence the hardwood.
As an aside, I doubt that the stand eliminates surface noise, that is inherent with the vinyl cleanliness or lack thereof. No doubt in my mind though that it improves the sound (imaging, depth) if for no other reason than reduced micro vibrations.
