I thought it was odd for a hobbyist to be using a turntable mat with such a sophisticated table, so I checked over to their website. Not a turntable mat to be found, but they do have a selection of weights and clamps.
I have always heard a tight association between the vinyl and the plater was more desirable, to give the imparted energy someplace to go, other than reflecting back into the vinyl.
Of course, I have been very happy in the past using turntables that were designed to use mats. I even bought a special French damping mat designed for the cast aluminum direct drive platters I had at the time.
the table I have now is designed to be used without a mat, and comes with a clamp. from glancing around the acoustic signature site, it didn't seem like they incorporated mats in the design. What gives with your decision to add a mat?
