RE: Cartridge Choice

My experience with Grado cartridges was that they have very variable quality control despite their claims. On the plus side, if you return the product to them, they will remedy it, but the customer shouldn't be expected to be the Final Quality Inspector!

The issues I had were skewed cantilevers, poor tracking and bad stylus alignment. I also had a Prestige Silver stylus with epoxy on the tip. All of these issues were resolved by them - the replacement cartridge tracked very well in the end, but the Silver stylus had a huge zenith error.

Given my experiences at the "budget" end of the Grado range, I am unlikely to ever spend more money on their products and certainly wouldn't expect the wood bodies to be any better in quality.

Having said that, those who have used their wood bodies, rate them very highly. So it may just be that I have been very unlucky.
