I've noticed some of my albums sound much better than others.

My Cat Stevens on A $ M from 1970 and Charles Mingus from long ago on Everest Records. And Roberta Flack on Atlantic from 1973.

You can hear so many aspects of each instrument. And the voices. On a good recording you can hear every voice in the chorus clearly.

The Mingus record says it is 'electronically re-recorded to simulate stereo'. Whatever they did, it sounds very natural and accurate.
