If you use a linear arm, anti-skate would not apply......
If you use a long pivoted tonearm (at least 15 inches from pivot to stylus), the absence of anti-skate would not pose a significant problem......
Longer pivoted arms need significantly less anti-skate compensation, relative to standard 9 to 10 inch pivoted arms. But with longer pivoted arms, to get the lateral forces on the stylus/cantilever equal, the application of anti-skate compensation, even in small amounts, is still the most ideal.
