I can't match 36 years. I bought my Elite (Townshend) Rock second hand around 1989. Mostly I used it with a Rega 300 and DV17D2. The bearing needed resetting once which meant a trip back to Townshend, it also went back for a suspension upgrade. Around 10 years ago I replaced the Rega with a Naim Aro and dispensed with the trough, still using a dynavector but now a D3. Other system changes had made the Rega sound rather grey in comparison. Since 2017 the Rock has been a second deck, lately with a mono wired London Decca cartridge and the damping trough is back in use.
