records would be to ream out the center hole a fair bit larger than normal, then get a small piece of thin plastic, like a piece cut out from a credit card. Then punch a spindle-sized hole in it, then tape or glue it in the proper spot over the enlarged original hole. Might take a few plays of experimentation to find the right exact spot, so starting with tape would be best.
Just a random thought on the subject.
