yes, sort of ... when Page replaced Jeff Beck as the guitarist he steered the Yardbirds away from their more traditional blues-rock / rave-up sound introducing an 'eastern' flavored influence before they disbanded
the first inkling of Zeppelin was the instrumental 'Beck's Bolero' off of his album Truth ... Page & John Paul Jones came together there with Kieth Moon drumming [nice!] ... shortly thereafter an unrecognizable 'Yardbirds' formed playing live that was essentially Zeppelin with the addition of John Bonham but Robert Plant had yet to arrive. after he did, they dropped the Yardbirds name and went out live to test drive new material and the rest is history
