glad to hear you have such an enjoyable table. Also glad to see an American company make good. When I was in the market , long ago and at a lower price point, they seemed to be hunting for a design philosophy, seemingly bringing out a new product or variation with every new moon. The model I was considering isn't even in the line anymore, I guess they can't all be timeless designs. Perhaps it was manufacturing problems, I think they had gone through about three versions of a platter when I cared about what they were building.
My consideration of VPI products back then was also haunted by old reviews that always mentioned a distinctive "VPI" sound, before the writer started the assessment.
This always concerned me, since I was forming a buying decision remotely and wanted a product that didn't need a qualifier. Like when a 98 pound fighter is promoted as the toughest guy in the world, with the qualifier , pound for pound. The merchandise now doesn't have qualifiers in the reviews, and appears to be competitive with the best. I was always rooting for them.
Ultimately, my buying decision required an arm voiced to the table, since I am an unskilled consumer on a budget and wanted every advantage possible. the VPI single pivot arm offered satisfied that buying trigger, but the arm available at the time , while technically better, wasn't as easy to use as a conventional gimbaled arm, and convenience was a buying goal.
That is a very good looking product, I hope you have a lot of fun with your purchase.
P.S. I am considering upgrading the arm.
