RE: Why LP?

A couple of reasons.

The original was one of those recorded at a 50.4 kHz sampling rate, so it had to be converted for the CD. It's been released at least three times on disc, for the original release, for a 20-bit rerelease, and for an SACD. (I have all three, but funnily have never sat down to compare them.) There is also the possibility that the D-to-A conversion used for the LP is of better quality than the one used in the average person's home system.
