Original White versions didn't include the indicator - and didn't last too long - let alone 100k 'squeezes' (the 1980's Red 3 box claims > 50K).
Used on a TT: the inherent earthing is mostly eliminated by placing the disc lop-sided (stationary) on the platter so just the spindle-top contacts the disc with the LP's edge resting on the platter.
