For a 3D arm, it works well. Not as necessary on a metal arm IMHO. If you're going to get a 2d pivot, I recommend getting a ruby tipped one and a sapphire thrust plate. The sapphire thrust plate is not prone to getting scratched by the tip as is the OEM metal plate.
